Terms & Conditions

The Ruff Life Vancouver - Group Classes

This Terms of Service document outlines the policies and expectations for all puppy-specific services provided by The Ruff Life Vancouver ("The Ruff Life"). By enrolling in puppy classes, socials, or private puppy training, clients (“Clients”) agree to the following terms.

1. Enrollment and Payment

  • Reservations: To ensure small class sizes and high-quality instruction, full payment is required at the time of booking to secure a spot.

  • Commitment: The Ruff Life provides evidence-based guidance. However, as dog training involves living animals and varying levels of owner consistency, we do not guarantee specific behavioral results.

2. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Refund Window: Refunds are available if requested at least 48 hours prior to the start of the first class or session.

  • Administrative Fees: All approved refunds are subject to a processing fee to cover administrative costs:

    • $15 for Group Classes/Packages.

    • $5 for Puppy Socials or Drop-ins.

  • Missed Sessions: We cannot offer refunds for missed classes. 

3. Puppy Health and Vaccinations

The safety of all participants is our priority.

  • Minimum Requirement: For Puppy Preschool or Socials, puppies must have received their first round of core vaccinations (DHPP/DA2PP) at least 7 days prior to their first attendance.

  • Ongoing Health: Clients must provide proof of age-appropriate vaccinations. Puppies must be free of any contagious symptoms (coughing, diarrhea, or lethargy) to attend.

4. Group Safety and Suitability

The Ruff Life focuses on positive reinforcement and low-stress environments.

  • Behavioral Assessment: If a puppy displays extreme fear, reactivity, or over-arousal that disrupts the learning environment, The Ruff Life reserves the right to transition the puppy out of the group setting.

  • Credit Transfer: In these cases, the remaining value of the group class may be applied as a credit toward private 1-on-1 training.

5. Liability and Waiver

  • Inherent Risk: Clients acknowledge that working with animals involves a risk of injury. Clients remain solely responsible for the actions of their dog at all times.

  • Release: Clients agree to hold harmless The Ruff Life Vancouver and its trainers from any claims, damages, or injuries caused by their dog to themselves, other participants, or third parties.

6. Professional Training Tools

To maintain a safe and science-based environment, the use of prong collars, choke chains, or electronic (e-collars) is not permitted during The Ruff Life sessions. We focus on harnesses and flat collars paired with positive reinforcement.

We also don't permit retractable leashes.

7. Media and Content

  • Capture: The Ruff Life frequently takes photos and videos for educational and marketing purposes.

  • Consent: By agreeing to these terms, Clients grant The Ruff Life the right to use media featuring their dog(s) on social media, websites, and promotional materials.

8. Entire Agreement

This document constitutes the full agreement between the Client and The Ruff Life Vancouver. These terms apply to all Greater Vancouver service areas and supersede any prior verbal agreements.
